SILVER

Silver  oh  silver
Where did you get your name?
Where did you come from?
Where can you be found?
Why do you torment us?
When are you responding to my questions?

You were made by man
Yet you make man run mad
Don’t you have human nature?
Oh! You aren’t human
So what are you?

Nothing compares to wisdom
Yet you wisely take it away from man
Your sight so captivating
Your name so alluring
What are you made of?

You darken the paths of kings
Writhing their hearts out of their chest
Squeezing humanity out of them
Leaving them void and empty headed
Why are you so inhuman?

You set brothers against each other
Breeding hatred in hearts of families
Cousins sitting on each other’s head
Sons not caring for their oldies
Are you really worth it?

Because of you, young flowers rid themselves of their beauty
Briefly garmented each day
Miserably posting themselves at street corners
Shamelessly hawking themselves at a pauper’s price
Seriously! Don’t you think you are denying them their innocence?

Because of you the pillars of homes are fallen
Strong gigantic men are beheaded
No more strong shoulders to lean on
No more role models for the baby generation
Can’t you just be fair for once?

Now this is my intuition
It’s you who’ve brought it back
Revived Sodom and Gomorrah ,the fallen cities
Pairing men with men, women with women
Defying nature. So what’s your promise to them?

You create greed, they call you corruption
You snatch us food, they call you hunger
Kings make you their bed, they say it’s inflation
You cause jealousy, they say it’s competition
Why are you so cunning?

I don’t say you are bad
But can you stop all these confusion
You make life easy, you keep us busy
Because of you we aren’t lazy

In wisdom you make kings rise
In foolishness you make them crumble
In wisdom you stir knowledge and insight
In foolishness people walk in darkness
You can create honor yet you can also cause misery

Those who seek wisdom find you
Those who seek you are hurt
Those who find wisdom lack you not
Those who find you lose wisdom
Yet you belong to wisdom

IT’S YOU

Looking at the horizon
I perceive your great expression
Of your deep love to your creation

Early in the morning
To an end comes my mourning
Because of the sweet amber
Expressive your touch so tender

Beyond the waters of the sea
The spiky sun-rays I see
Spreading their arms over every tide
Yet not measuring your love so wide

Slowly the amber colors fade
To reveal an even brighter shade
Yet not for any single ray
Do I have to struggle to pay

Hours then the day rolls away
In the breeze the trees sway
In the mix I pour a soulful song
To declare how much of You I long

THE PATRIOT

East or west
Indeed home is best
With all the zest
We shall do our best
And finally beat the rest

From the lovely hills to the high mountains
The beautiful rivers flow
Meandering through the rugged terrain
Watering the plains
The land without rains

Kenya oh Kenya
A land of marvel
Talk of the lakes, home of tasty fish
Beautiful flamingos just to name but a few

Kenya   oh   Kenya
A land of beautiful feet
Talk of the athletes, Rudisha, Kemboi, Jelimo the list endless
Daring the feet-unfriendly terrain
Just to add taste to the beautiful name

Need I to mention our strong men?
Extending their humanity to our neighbors
To bring sanity and order
A common denominator in Kenya
To bring to reality the adage
Together we stand, divided we fall

Hey! Forget this not!
It’s not been in solitude
To the Almighty we give our gratitude
Because it’s this attitude
That will take us to a higher altitude
Peace, Love and Unity, our fortitude
God bless Kenya.

I NEED YOU

In all my days and nights
I don’t want to lose your sight
In your embrace hold me tight
This to you is my plight

Pressures come from all over
In this road I need a rover
That’s why to you I turn it over
For you to make it over

Sometimes I don’t understand
Why I’ve got to be on this sand
But I know that when in you I stand
All will be well because I’m in your hand

Giving up I will not dare
Because the pain without you I can’t bear
Before this multitude I declare
Your joy with them I will share
